France and England, October 2022: Part 2 — Normandy
Our last visit to Normandy was a very quick visit in January of 2009. We had a day of touring the D-Day beaches, a drive down to Mont-St-Michel, and not much else— well, we did the obligatory stuff in Bayeux! This time we had a bigger wish list and more time, including a day driving to Giverney to check out Monet’s waterlillies.
As we did in Bordeaux, we mostly cooked at home, making the most of the farmers market that was just up the street from our (rather small) apartment. We did some great walking along the coast, even though the weather was not as kind as it had been in the South West. Our trip back from Bayeux to Paris was traumatic as the trains were cancelled and we had to rearrange everything, spending an extra day in Caen, losing our stay in Oxford and costing us an expensive rebooking fee on the Eurostar.
