More ACARA consultation
There are times when I wonder who at ACARA is listening: I suppose we’ll find out when the Arts business is settled.
Online consultation opportunity – General capabilities
There are seven general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum – Literacy, Numeracy, Information and communication technology (ICT) competence, Critical and creative thinking, Personal and social competence, Ethical behaviour and Intercultural understanding. An introduction to the general capabilities is available on the Australian Curriculum website (published in December 2010).ACARA is now conducting consultation on the full set of general capabilities materials. An overview of the general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum and draft conceptual statements and continua for each capability are published on the Consultation section of the Australian Curriculum website at:http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/Consultation.Individuals and groups who wish to provide feedback on these materials should register on the Consultation site. Respondents may give feedback in two ways – by completing the online survey or by using the feedback button for each section of the general capabilities materials. The survey gives respondents the opportunity to comment on the materials overall, including their presentation, and on one or more of the capabilities. They are asked to rate a series of statements on a four-point scale, respond to open-ended questions and provide additional comments both of a general nature and on specific capability descriptions. The consultation period will close on Sunday 7 August 2011.Following consultation, feedback will be analysed and general capabilities materials revised prior to publication on the Australian Curriculum site in November 2011.To view the general capabilities materials and to register for the General capabilities consultation, go to: http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/Consultation.
