    Logically you are right. Other denominations should not be exempt.

    However, there are special factors that make 1) abuse and 2) failure to deal appropriately with complaints both more likely to have occurred in the Church of Rome. Also, only the Church of Rome has such a large systemic educational apparatus. Therefore, it is probably sensible to deal with the Roman Catholic schools first and then with the others.

  2. Hmm. I think the issues are generic, but if not, only a generic enquiry is likely to find the reasons for any differences.

    The US research into the whole area is very interesting and confronting, but the thing we never find out about is the level of child protection breaches in the state system (and the figures run into the hundreds of cases currently pending!!!!).

    So I think logic should win! And why not a national enquiry while we are at it?
