Sexualisation of the young is becoming society's cancer

Our overtly sexual environment is generating depressed, lonely people, writes Steve Biddulph.
We spend increasing amounts of time dealing with students who are confused, demotivated, depressed and anxious. Steve Biddulph has justifiably raised concerns about boys issues for years and we are probably all aware of – or at least, those of us of a certain age are aware – of the difficulties challenging some young women.
The point I would make is that this is a problem for some – indeed, a tiny minority – of young women. For the majority, they continue to flourish and grow into mature adults. We need to invest as much in the healthy and well as in the five per cent that cause us concern. It is easy to generalise from those who struggle towards a generalised crisis of femininity.
But then, that’s what he did with boys and masculinity.
